The Ministry of Education says it has dished out some 92 scholarships this year, valued at 34.3 million dollars.
At a zoom awards ceremony recently, 76 awards were presented to students for study at the St. George’s University, to the tune of 34.1 million EC dollars, for study in the areas of arts and science, pre-medicine, medicine, nursing and veterinary science.
Also, there were three economic-cost bursaries valued at more than 107, 900 EC dollars awarded to students attending UWI’s main campuses in the area of law.
According to a release on the subject, eight scholarships valued at more than 10, 800 dollars were presented by the Grenada Houston Association to students at the secondary and tertiary level, and five students benefitted from more than 21, 900 dollars awarded by the Mother Noel Charity, an organization providing financial assistance to students of secondary and tertiary level institutions.
Minister for Education, David Andrew, congratulated the awardees, indicating that the aim is to have at least one university graduate per household.
