Issues affecting The Marketing and National Importing Board (MNIB) are to be discussed at the Anglican school in St. John today.

It should be underway at around this time.

The forum is being spearheaded by the Grenada Government, which has several options up its sleeves to ensure MNIB gets out of the doldrums.

These issues have come to the fore with the reality that if nothing is done to assist, it could run broke and bust, on account of owing millions of dollars to farmers, and specifically financial institutions, as things are currently.

The MNIB and its future was the major talking point at a  forum in St. Andrew yesterday, the first in a series, which had input from a plethora of farmers and stakeholders with interest in invoking a solution for the survival of the entity.

A sorry story has been painted over MNIB operations, whereas if there are no solutions, things could collapse and workers on the breadline.

He noted that the MNIB also owes the Government several millions of dollars, with the taking-over of the payment of some millions of dollars of an Ansa McCall loan and monies, we understand PetroCaribe (Grenada Limited) lent to MNIB.

Prime Minister Mitchell outlined the liabilities, should any decision be taken to shut MNIB down.

The Prime Minister says the options are not easy options.

The views from the audience in attendance at the forum were wide-ranging.

The views of those in attendance at the Government of Grenada/MNIB Town Hall forum in St. Andrew yesterday.

The forum was held as a matter of bringing the MNIB stakeholder community to air their views on the subject, which according to the Prime Minister, the Government will not stand by and do nothing.
