The Ministry of Health here adds its voice to the regional conversation on the urgent need for better management of infectious diseases, a collaborative response to health issues and more networking among countries.
Health Minister, Sen. Jonathan La Crete, says the fragility of the various health care infrastructures in the Caribbean has prompted the need for more strategic action to be taken.
He told members in the upper house this week that the rise in the prevalence of diseases and the effects of the COVID- 19 pandemic have pushed countries to urgently collaborate and form organized networks to formulate responses and solutions.
Senator La Crete was speaking during in the Senate on the Government’s 1.35 billion-dollar budget.
The Government has placed the health sector at the top of its priority list for 2023 and beyond, as part of its transformation agenda with a budgetary allocation of 114.2 million dollars.
Minister La Crete says a health sector with quality service- delivery is critical to establishing a stable and efficient cohesive society.
