The Grenada Government is said to be conducting an assessment of the damage yesterday caused by what forecasters say was a shear line of activity…referring to the point where cold air from the north-east monsoon converges with warm air from the Pacific Ocean.

It brought heavy persistent rains that caused flooding and landslides in many areas in the Northern, Western and Eastern corridors of the Nation, as well as pockets of damages to houses and farmland.

The National Disaster Management Agency NADMA along with the MP’s for the areas were out yesterday doing damage assessments.

Speaking at a press briefing this morning put on by the National Disaster Management Agency, NADMA, Parliamentary representative for St. Patrick West, Joseph Andall, highlighted some of the damages that occurred in his constituency.

Red Mud in St. Patrick’s, he says, is completely cut of from the entire parish.

Minister Andall referred to damages in the Madeys, Morne Fendue and Snell Hall areas.

Minister Andall says in going forward a number of practices which leaves the land bare will have to be looked at.

He specifically made mention about the way debushing is being conducted.
