The National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) is gearing up to deal with any eventualities for the upcoming hurricane season.
With this in mind, it reportedly partnered with CDEMA; the European Union and other stakeholders to complete an intensive workshop.
Over 14 participants from various response entities completed the intensive Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Trainer-of-Trainers (ToT) workshop.
Grenada CERT ToT Workshop is a component under the Country Directed Fund (CDF), through the Delegation of the European Union to Barbados project; itโs focused on Building the Resilience of CARIFORUM States to Disaster Risks and Climate Change Impacts.
Participants were trained in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations.
Disaster instructor from the Commonwealth of Dominica, Donalson Frederick, highlighted the significance of having such training.
Successful participants will be given credentials to train others who will become part of a cadre of volunteers competent in supporting the CERT Programme.
Frederick commended NADMA and the Government of Grenada for the initiative.
NaaDMA is pleased with the outcome of the three-day exercise.
