Following this weeks’s persistent rainfall that impacted several water systems in the Eastern and Northern corridors of the island the National Water and Sewage Authority (NAWSA) has sent out notice informing consumers of the challenges to its infrastructures in affected areas.

It says significant hurdles remain for Mt. Horne, Peggy’s Whim and Mt. Reuil.

Mt. Horne, the statement says, continues to grapple with substantial blockage due to silt accumulation in its dam, affecting its operational capacity but teams are undertaking necessary restoration measures.

Similarly, Peggy’s Whim faces a halt in restoration efforts due to the dam’s siltation and teams are there conducting assessments to initiate restoration.

Additionally, Mt. Reuil suffered damage to its transmission lines and the Company’s teams are already actively engaged in repair work for full restoration.

To meet critical water needs, Nawasa says it will deploy water tankers from 1 this afternoon.
