With the election campaigning moving into crunch time, the two major political parties are promoting their manifestos as to their plans and programmes in the governance of the country.

The New National Party launched its manifesto this morning at a ceremony at the Trade Centre Annex, setting out what’s termed the “Empowerment Agenda”.

Minister within the Ministry of Youth Development, Sports, Culture and the Arts with Responsibility for Youth Development, Kate Lewis-Peters, made mention of the concept “100 million for 100 thousand”, part of the plan to spend half-a-billion dollars targeted at youth empowerment initiatives.

She says that is additional monies on top of what has already been spent and will continue in the vein of spending on the original youth empowerment programmes.

Making his presentation, Agriculture Minister, Peter David, says the Nation’s farmers view the NNP administration as being on the right track.

David says among other things, they’ll continue to place emphasis on the “Youth in Agriculture Initiative”.

Presentations were also made by the Ministers of Finance and Tourism.

NNP Political Leader, Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Mitchell, says the party’s manifesto is one of hope, possibilities and opportunities, that will be implemented with teamwork.

Dr. Mitchell noted that his Government has had a remarkable performance facing up to many economic challenges and global circumstances, even since returning to rescue a shattered economy in 2013.

Weathering the storm successfully with a good measure of economic growth, he spoke of having started the transformation agenda of which the strides were impacted when the COVID pandemic hit and stalled the process.

He’s, however, confident of the action intended to expand the initiative.

Dr. Mitchell says the leadership team of the New National Party government has been remarkable in the mix and has shown its dexterity in handling major crises and even with the COVID situation as it stands now, things are again beginning to show promise with the new reality.
