NEW LAND: THE KALINAGO DREAM OPENING TO THE PUBLIC AT MOVIE PALACE TONIGHT

A new film project entitled “New Land: The Kalinago Dream” will be open to the public at Movie Palace beginning 7 this evening.

The “Kalinago Dream” is a documentary about the last remaining indigenous people of the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean.

The award-winning documentary was created by local videographer, Film producer and story finder, Teddy Fredrick.

Fredrick and his team at the Grenada Film Company have been working together with the German production company, Time of Motion, to bring the project to life.

Fredrick shared how the idea of the film was born.

“New Land: The Kalinago Dream” unfolds around the lives of two Kalinago men, Dominica Government Minister, Cozier Frederick, as the first representative of the Kalinago in the Dominica national government, and Lorenzo Sanford as the youngest-elected Chief of the Kalinago Territory.

The Dominican MP is working towards the improvements of the socio economic condition, as well as the preservation and promotion of their cultural heritage.  

Minister Fredrick shared a brief explanation of how the tribe functions.
