In a carnival-like atmosphere, Candidates down to participate in the upcoming 2018 general elections made their intentions official today, “Nomination Day”, constitutionally declared by Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Mitchell.
The Parliamentary Elections’ Offices in the 15 constituencies were live with activity.
With music from DJ systems supporters marched their favourite candidates to the various district Elections’ offices to be nominated, in the run-up to the country’s March 13 general election.
In the town of St. George, in close proximity with our operations at Wee FM, supporters jumped gleefully, when the NNP, NDC and Liberal party candidates made their entry to file their nomination papers.
In St. David, the atmosphere was similar to that of the town of St. George.
Supporters were out on the streets with their favourite candidates.
In South St. George, the NDC candidate, former Trade Unionist, Ray Roberts, was surrounded by supporters and well-wishers in going in to file his nomination papers at the parliamentary elections’ branch office.
On Edward Street, Gouyave, St. John, NDC Candidate, Dr. George Vincent went marching to the sounds of campaign music.
Dr. George Vincent is coming up against the incumbent Alvin DaBreo of the NNP, who says he’s looking to increase his margin of victory, when compared to 2013 elections.
Up-north the streets of Sauteurs were jammed with traffic depicting the political activity of nomination day 2018.
