Well, with the covid situation still on and with the many restrictions for the safety of the Nation, the usual annual memorial function at Fort George by the Maurice Bishop and October 19 Martyrs Foundation, has been scaled down.

This information by Dr. Terrence Marryshow, an Executive member of the grouping.

But, there’s still a commemoration at the Fort, taking the COVID protocols and guidelines into consideration.

There’s a wreath-laying ceremony.

Dr. Marryshow says the October 19th 1983 is a significant part of the country’s history which must not be allowed to die.

The general view is that the memories still live on.

Dr. Marryshow says the occasion on October 19, 1983 involved real patriots, real heroes who deserve National recognition.
