OECS Environment Ministries are to meet in Anguilla for two days this week, Wednesday and Thursday and will look at topics on ocean governance, climate resilience, data management, and sustainable financing mechanisms.

It’s their 10th such meeting since the coming into force of the Revised Treaty of Basseterre.

Grenada will be represented by Kerryne James, under whose portfolio Environment, Climate Resilience, and Renewable Energy falls.

She’ll be accompanied by Environment Specialist, Aria St. Louis.

We get more in this report from trainee Heavenly Chasteau.

The Environment Ministers are expected to come up with decisions on the implementation of a proposed Council of Ministers for Environmental Sustainability roadmap during the current decade.

They will also review relevant policy issues related to environmental sustainability, natural disasters, and Small Islands Development States (SIDS) and will hold talks with development partners and donor agencies on funding needs for undertaking sustainable development-related projects and programmes in the region.

As of tomorrow, an exhibition will begin which will showcase various displays, including Virtual Reality educational videos, informational spreads, educational posters and banners, on climate resilience, environmental management, and biodiversity and ecosystems’ management.

The two-day Environment Minister’s meeting will begin with a high-level ceremony to be addressed by Anguilla’s Premier, Dr. Ellis Webster.
