A two-member delegation is representing Grenada at the World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainability in Mexico.
The Permanent Secretary responsible for Youth, Sport & Culture is accompanied by Assistant Chief Cultural Officer, Ms. Susan Jones-Benjamin.
The UNESCO Intergovernmental Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development – MONDIACULT in Mexico City from 28th-30th September 2022.
Mr. Gilbert presented on behalf of the Culture Minister, Hon. Ron Redhead on one of the Thematic Sessions under the theme “The future of the Creative Economy”, on Thursday 29th September 2022.
Minister Ron Redhead, before their travel, said he looks forward to the team’s participation in this meeting where over 100 ministers of culture will be present. He is excited about the representation they will give as Grenada prepares to move vigorously into rebuilding and enhancing the product and staging of cultural activities, its showcase to the world, and exploring the economic benefits that can be derived from it.
This World Conference provides new momentum for the global policy dialogue on culture for sustainable development, spearheaded by UNESCO in line with its cultural mandate to advance the free exchange of ideas and knowledge by encouraging cooperation among countries as enshrined in its Constitution.
The UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development –MONDIACULT 2022 is convened by the UNESCO Director-General and hosted by the Government of Mexico.
It comes forty years after the first MONDIACULT World Conference on Cultural Policies held in Mexico City (Mexico) in 1982, and 24 years after the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies for Development held in Stockholm, (Sweden) in 1998.
