Police-constable Stalin Belfon and his co-accused, Jonelle Thomas, made their first court appearance Today.
The 34-year-old Officer, was granted bail in the sum of two hundred thousand dollars with two suitable sureties. They are on drug possession and trafficking charges.
As part of his bail condition, Belfon, must surrender all his travel documents and report to the Grenville Police Station three times weekly between 6 am and 6 pm.
His alleged accomplice, also appeared before the courts Thursday.
Jonelle Thomas, a nineteen years old mechanic, was placed on seventy five thousand dollars bail, with similar bail conditions.
According to sources, police received a tip-off and acted on it. The men where nabbed during a traffic stop while driving from St. Andrew, Monday evening.
Sources say an inspection of Belfon’s vehicle revealed some 228 lbs. of cannabis in the back seat and trunk.
The case will resume in court on Friday 15th June 2018.
