There still no word yet whether the situation at the Port is resolved.
Yesterday, the workers under the TAWU banner withheld their labour for a brief moment at the Port, disgruntled over the attitude of the Board, as it relates to outstanding worker issues, including bonus payment.
With Christmas fast approaching, the actions of the workers threw operations in a tail-spin during the period of the stand-off.
We understood that the Union gave the Board of directors of the Port Authority until 4 this afternoon to resolve the problems, but so far we have been contacting sources directly involved in the dispute but our efforts to connect with them have proven futile.
As of now we have no indication whether the situation has been resolved and the Union, though, has not sent out any communication, relative to any updates.
We had been in touch with the President General of TAWU, Andre Lewis, who tells us exactly what the issue is between the Authority and the workers.
