PRIME MINISTER DICKON MITCHELL MAKES PLEA FOR GRENADA TO BE SAFE, SECURE AND VIOLENT-FREE

Prime Minister, Dickon Mitchell, makes a plea for the maintenance of a safe, secure and violent free Grenada society.

He made the point at a Town Hall meeting in St. David last evening, indicating that building a Nation begins with leaders exhibiting a great degree of responsibility, as it relates to being respectful.

According to him violence of any kind must be condemned.

In the question and answer segment, the issue of access to banking came up, especially as it concerns Grenadians returning home.

It’s believed the system is not yet conducive for prompt and efficient-business.

He departed the island today for Barbados, heading a delegation that will discuss the promotion of trade and tourism with officials of the neighbouring regional territory.

Before doing so, PM Mitchell witnessed the launch of InterCaribbean airways’ new ATR-42 aircraft service on the Grenada-Barbados route.

Speaking during the occasion, Chairman and Founder of InterCaribbean Airways, Lindon Gardener, indicated that the activity is a celebration of commitment, seeking to strengthen a mutually beneficial partnership between InterCaribbean Airways and the Government and people of Grenada.

Prime Minister, Dickon Mitchell, says connectivity with the newly-launched InterCaribbean airways’ ATR-42 will improve what he believes is the first step to improving air travel.

Welcoming the initiative, Tourism Minister, Lennox Andrews, who formed part of the official delegation to Barbados, believes the move augurs well for the Tourism industry.

Prime Minister Mitchell is scheduled to return this evening.

Hon. Joseph Andall, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development has been appointed Acting Prime Minister in the absence of Prime Minister Mitchell.
