Meantime, Prime Minister, Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell, has sent out a warning that Grenada could face dire consequences if the COVID situation is allowed to get out of control.
He’s been reacting to the nature of activities being held in defiance of observing protocol requirements.
Dr. Mitchell says anything other than precaution could cause a serious dent to the country’s healthcare, as well as the destruction of the economy, which is already feeling the pinch.
Dr. Mitchell was speaking at a function signaling the resumption of services at the Mt. Moritz Medical Station.
In the country’s quest to stave off the virus, the vaccination programme is seen as the best bet in the balancing act that would keep the economy on even keel.
But, the speed at which the country is aiming to give effect to the herd immunity -percentage is worrying because of hesitancy in taking the vaccine.
Dr. Mitchell is urging health practitioners to be engaged in the vaccine awareness process for the public to better understand the importance of taking the vaccine, to safeguard against the debilitating effects of COVID-19.
