Prime Minister, Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell has expressed immense disappointment with the Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN) for what he
describes as poor journalism practices.
The Prime Minister was referring to a news story aired on GBN on Wednesday, in which a resident within the constituency of St. George North West, claimed that he granted permission for her to erect a structure and operate a business on property, now known to
be owned by Leroy Neckles.
According to the Prime Minister, who is also the Parliamentary Representative for the area, the GBN news report facilitated the unsubstantiated claims, but no one sought a
comment from him on the matter.
Speaking at an event in Beausejour Thursday morning, Dr. Mitchell said he is considering
legal action against the company.
He said, “The implication of saying that the Prime Minister gave someone land, which is
untrue, is a serious indictment on my credibility and character.
No parliamentarian has any authority to give people land. I have asked my lawyer to look at it. I’m not mad, I’m just correcting the misinformation. I don’t know why this was done.”
