Promoters desirous of staging Public Events must obtain a Festival Licence.

This according to Spice Mas Corporation (SMC), in a release published today.

REPORT:

Spicemas 2022 was launched April 29, and, as a result, the legislation in this regard takes effect from April 29, 2022 until Sunday August 14, 2022.

“According to the Spicemas Corporation (Amendment) Act 8 of 2017, no person shall hold a carnival festival or activity at any time during the carnival period unless the person obtains a Licence.”

It therefore means, all persons desirous of hosting any carnival-related or festive activity must first obtain a Carnival Festival Licence from the Spicemas Corporation (SMC) before applying to the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) for permission to play amplified music.

The release says the process starts by first filling out an application form which costs ten dollars.

Everyone holding events must first visit the SMC office and file an application, which will be evaluated.

The release says the licensing fee for ticketed events will be based on guidance in law, 5% of ticket sales.

Non-ticketed events will be evaluated on the information provided in the application to determine the cost of the Licence.

According to the act, the carnival period commences on the date of the launch of carnival by the SMC and ends on the Sunday after the second Tuesday in August.

To obtain application forms for events Spicemas Corporation can be contacted on 440-0621 or email: reception@spicemasgrenada.com
