Head of the Public Workers Union, Brian Grimes, issues a call for the Grenada Government to accelerate the pace surrounding the regularization of workers.
Grimes was yesterday addressing the Trades Union Council May Day rally, which was held in the Parish of St. Patrick.
In a militant mood, Grimes says 2023 was a good year for the PWU where its members earned improvements in salary increases and other benefits, but stressed the point that regularization bears a major gripe with the PWU membership.
He describes the regularization by the government as “anaemic” and referred to the implementation rate as being “poor”.
Grimes, among other areas, commended the Government on the issue of occupational safety and health, and is looking forward to more improvement in this regard.
Highlighting grievances with employers outside central government, the PWU President referred to the matter with the T.A. Marryshow community College, the GIDC and the NTA.
The issue with TAMCC is pertaining to negotiations for a new collective bargaining arrangement, which Grimes noted that the Union sent in its proposal since January and wants to see progress on the matter.
