The Pure Grenada Cup football tournament is into its final stage, following matches at the Kirani James Athletic and football stadium last Saturday night.
It appears the Pure Grenada Cup football competition is ending just as it began.
The final will feature St. Mark Western Stars and St. Andrew Big Parish Stars.
Both teams qualified from the semi-final round.
Second half goals by Mackell Ganness and Kriston Julien in the first game gave Western Stars a 2-nil victory over defending champions St. Patrick Crown City Strikers.
St. Andrew Big Parish Stars defeated St. John Dolphins 3-2.
Chiesa Clyne opened the scoring for the Big Parish outfit in the 9th minute to one-nil.
Shevon Sampson sealed the equalizer for St. John Dolphins on the brink of the interval.
Jamal Ray Charles came into his own, netting in the 48th and 71st minutes to push the score 3-1 in favour of Big Parish Stars. It puts Jamal’s tally to 11, scoring the most goals in the tournament currently.
Garth Thomas had a late booter for St. John Dolphins, with the score ending in a 3-2 victory for the Eastern Parish squad.
When the tournament began April 6, St. Andrew Big Parish Stars had a 3-nothing victory over St. Mark Western Stars, but the result was overturned because Big Parish Stars had an ineligible player.
In the second game on the opening night, St. John Dolphins beat St. Patrick Crown City Strikers 2-0.
Both teams will be in the third-place play off on the final night, while St. Mark Western Stars and St. Andrew Big Parish Stars will contest the final.
