Employees at the “RBC Royal Bank, operating in Grenada as “RBTT,” today escalated their sick-out industrial action, continuing to gripe over issues they say are equivalent to unfair treatment.
Workers have been noticed standing in front of the Bank in further action, supported by the bargaining agent for the employees, the Grenada Technical and Allied Workers’ Union (GTAWU).
Last Friday, the workers took sick-out action which resulted in the Bank issuing a statement expressing disappointment with the move.
The Bank is said to have been disturbed with the disruption of normal routines inconveniencing clients seeking to access banking services.
President General of the GTAWU, Andre Lewis, is calling on the Bank to settle the matter with the workers which he says stems from an agreement where RBC and RBTT are seeking to combine RBC’s Caribbean retail banking operations through the acquisition of RBTT.
Lewis says the Union will continue to pursue members’ rights until the Bank honors and resolve outstanding employee-related issues.
