Relief On The Way For Electricity Customers In Carriacou

0

Some relief is on the way for customers of Carriacou.

This, with the dispatch of a generator from Grenada on Thursday, 25 May 2023.

The 1.4 MW generator shipped to Carriacou will help to stabilise electricity supply.

Next Steps

  • Thursday, 25 May  – Arrival in Carriacou.
  • Friday, 26 May – Transportation to Beausejour Power Plant Plant; Start of Installation.
  • Saturday, 27 May – Completion of Installation and Commissioning.

Given the developments this week with the larger generator in Carriacou, Grenlec officials made the decision to send a unit from Grenada now rather than awaiting the arrival of the Trinidad rental.

The rental engine ordered for Carriacou, which is expected in Grenada over the next few days will be installed at the Queen’s Park Power Plant to replace the unit that has been shipped to Carriacou.

Grenlec’s plan is to have the additional generator online in Carriacou late Saturday, 27 May 2023.

This will require an islandwide outage in Carriacou on Saturday to complete the installation. Consequently, electricity is scheduled to be unavailable to all customers from 4:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

The Company is appealing customers to continue to bear with us as integrating the unit with the existing system may require some time and a little more inconvenience.
