THE HONORARY CONSUL OF India to Grenada, Shadel Nyack Compton, yesterday bid farewell to Grenada’s Indian guests as they departed the island on a specially-arranged charter flight back to India.

According to a release, this was part of repatriation efforts undertaken by the Government of India and the High Commission of India to Trinidad and Tobago.

Yesterday’s Jet Air flight set out from Maurice Bishop International Airport was granted permission by the Grenada Government.

The twenty passengers were mainly students and Professors from St. George’s University, along with a few tourists who were caught up on the Island here during the Covid-19 lock-down.

The departing passengers expressed gratitude for the constant support they received during the crisis and also expressed thanks to the Grenadian and Indian governments and the High Commission and Honorary Consul for the opportunity to go home.

They also commended the government for their handling of the Coronavirus pandemic while ensuring the ongoing health and safety of everyone.
