By November 30th this year, Retired Teachers, Public Officers and members of various associations, will receive outstanding pension and gratuity payments, which comes in accordance with the Judge Glasgow ruling on the Grenada Pensions issue.
That’s according to Prime Minister, Dickon Mitchell, who recently met and held discussions with various unions and staff associations on the pensions’ matter.
He was speaking to reporters this morning in his administration’s first Post Cabinet Briefing since winning general elections on the 23rd of last month.
He says his administration sees the pension payment as top priority and stands committed to making the payment, as promised during the recently-concluded election campaign.
Prime Minister indicated also that a plan must be formulated and a final decision made, on whether a retroactive payment of 60 million EC dollars will be paid in full or over a period of time.
The Grenada government’s proposal was submitted to the various unions and staff associations for review, with a second meeting scheduled for the end of this month.
Prime Minister Mitchell says the meeting with the Unions was held in a reconciliatory tone.
