With kite flying being one of our greatest traditions around this time of the year, the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) is appealing to kite flyers to be considerate and conscious about safe practices. Persons are reminded that the unsafe practices in kite flying poses a danger to human life, health and safety of the general public.
Persons engaged in the practice of leaving those specially droning kites to fly at nights are reminded that it is against the law to do so. A special appeal is made to persons to refrain from doing so.
Persons are encouraged to fly kites in open areas and away from electricity poles, overhead power lines and other obstacles, and, to refrain from leaving kites unattended while flying.
Flying kites near to the airports is prohibited by law.
Persons are reminded that the no-fly areas include, but are not limited to, Calliste, Frequente, Fort Jeudy, St. Paul’s, Mt. Parnassus and Mt. Moritz and the vicinity of Lauriston Airport in Carriacou.
