The Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) issues notice being concerned about loitering around banks and ATM’s.

It has sent out a reminder of law which forbids anyone from idly loitering in public spaces, section 137 subsections 25 and 26 of the Criminal Code.

It strictly prohibits idling by anyone in a public place, and, among other things, particularly to the annoyance or obstruction of any passenger or person frequenting such public place or of any person living near it, and does not move away when required by any peace officer.

As well, it prohibits idling, and/or loitering, around shops or in any public place, and especially when the violator does not quietly move away when desired to do so by any constable or by the owner of the shop or his agent.

The RGPF wants members of the public to be vigilant when conducting business at Automated Teller Machines (ATM) and other sensitive areas and report any suspicious person or behaviour.

It says individuals who violate the substantive section of law shall be liable to imprisonment for three months, or to a fine of one thousand dollars, or to both.
