With the festivities in full bloom, word from the Police is that there’ll be strict surveillance over this period to ensure laws are upheld and that Grenada has a safe and secure carnival.  

 

Several aspects concerning their duties relative to the celebrations were outlined to the Nation today, as key personnel in the RGPF held a news conference highlighting their expectation for a fun-filled and incident-free affair.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, John Mitchell.  

He says there’ll be absolutely no open flames, no fireworks, no noxious or chemical substances in and around events.  

 

He says it’s a rule that must be obeyed.

As it relates to the whole aspect of safety, ACP Mitchell looked at the revellry at carnival shows and parental control of children, among other areas.  

Unsupervised children, he says, are a concern.

Superintendent, Vannie Curwen, spoke about the need for households to be safe and secure at all times.

Superintendent Curwen also issues advice concerning electricity devices being left unattended.
