The Regional Security System (RSS) is worried about the escalating gun violence in its member states and its impact on the society.
Executive Director, Errington Shurland, told the 40th RSS Council of Ministers’ Meeting held here in Grenada yesterday that the violence is taking a heavy toll, not only in respect of loss of life but also with injuries and psychological trauma.
He told leaders it’s important that countries in the region deal with the issue of corruption in relation to gun violence.
The RSS head is pressing for the application of hard and soft responses through a whole of society approach.
Shurland says the RSS continues its work in reducing transnational crime and weakening the financial strength of its actors.
He says several successes have been recorded in the fight throughout 2022.
