Sandals Grenada is honoured to be presented with the 2020 People’s Tourism Choice Awards in the category of Training by the Grenada Tourism Authority, Pure Grenada.
The award was presented to Sandals Grenada on Friday December 18th, 2020, and recognises the Tourism provider who has gone above and beyond in training its staff to become COVID ready or to deliver excellent service.
The People’s Tourism Choice Awards, which began in 2018, invites members of the public to nominate and recognise individuals/businesses making significant contributions to the Tourism industry in Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
Sandals Grenada General Manager Peter Fraser said this award was particularly significant this year as it recognises the tremendous efforts made by Sandals Resorts in helping Grenada recover from the COVID-19 pandemic which has had devastating effect on the tourism sector and the economy. This was achieved by the introduction of the Sandals Platinum Protocols of Cleanliness, one of the world’s most highly regarded sets of health and safety protocols.
“The travel and tourism sector is the main economic pillar for many Caribbean islands, and the shutdown brought about by COVID-19 resulted in massive jobs losses, business closures as well as massive loss of revenue for the economy. As the key resort in many of these destinations, Sandals recognised the catastrophic impact this could have for many islands, including Grenada, and so we worked tirelessly to develop one of the strongest and most comprehensive sets of health and safety protocols in the world, which have allowed us to safely reopen our resorts, and by extension support the reopening of the tourism sector is several islands, including here in Grenada.”
Mr. Fraser added, “We are pleased to see that the people of Grenada through the Pure Safe Travel Edition People’s Choice Awards, have recognised the tremendous effort we have made in terms of training our staff to implement and manage our health and safety protocols. In fact we have gone further to lend assistance to several other hotels and stakeholders to help them also establish strong COVID protocols.
