The ceremonial opening of the Second Session of the 11th Parliament will be held tomorrow, at Parliament building, in Mt. Wheldale.

The occasion usually produces moments of pomp and flare, with the Governor General playing a key role, including participation in the brief military procession, where she inspects the guards of honor from within the RGPF parade.

The highlight of tomorrow’s opening will be the traditional Throne Speech from Governor General Dame Cecile La Grenade.

Traditionally, the Governor General’s Throne Speech signals the start of a new parliamentary session in which she will outline Government’s plans for the legislative year.

This sets the foundation for the presentation of the annual budget of the upcoming year.

The 2024 budget is set to be presented by the Minister for Finance or his designated alternate at an appointed time, in accordance with plans by the ruling administration for the country’s development.
