In the latest covid statistics by the Ministry of Health, it’s noticed that 7 more positive cases have been identified.
This is on account of some 275 tests that were conducted, during the course of yesterday.
That brings the number of active cases to 84 and the cumulative confirmed cases to 5, 968.
In total, there have been 5, 684 recoveries, 3 over the reporting period.
The report, however, shows there have been no deaths.
It’s also noticed that the 2 persons who have been hospitalized recently have been discharged.
The number of persons who have received the second dose of vaccine in guarding against the coronavirus is stated as 35,600.
The partially vaccinated population stands at 5,756.
1,880 persons have been administered booster doses.
In addressing the Nation on Christmas Eve, Prime Minister, Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell, showed concern about report of recent cases that have been identified and warned Grenadians not to get carried away with the festivity of the season but at all times be cautious and be responsible.
He hastened to mention that the threat of COVID still exists.
Dr. Mitchell noted that many countries around the World are still battling with the Delta variant, and now, the recently new strain, Omicron.
He says the World seems to be caught up in this perpetual cycle of opening up and shutting down, trying to find the right balance of measures that will best protect all of the people.
