Simon Steil Deems COP26 Most Significant Meeting

Minister with responsibility for Government Business Simon Steil says the recently concluded COP26 held in Glasgow was the most significant Climate meeting since the Paris Agreement in 2015.

Engaging media personnel this morning in another in the series of Government’s weekly Post Cabinet Briefing’s Minister Steil says the objective of last month’s meeting was effectively to operationalize all of the words that were negotiated in Paris back in 2015.

Steil reiterates the need for the reduction of global warming a process he believes will take a holistic approach to accomplish.

He says the key outcomes from the meeting is to keep the target of 1.5 alive and within reach.

With a trajectory of hitting 2.7 degrees by the end of this century, Steil says it’s imperative that all nations take critical actions to protect the planet.

Simon Steil, reports on the recently-held global COP 26 saying that the requirement for more financial and technical resources to adapt to the changing environment was critical.

The Summit gave a commitment for the doubling of resources that would help the developing World deal with the problems confronting them because of Climate change.
