Sir Eric Matthew Gairy, during the time of Independence, was noted to be a man who concentrated on the development of the country and its people.

It’s remembered he coined the term within his Grenada United Labour Party, very familiar among his supporters, “Action and Progress”.

Today, one of the monuments that stand out in his honour is Progress Park in St. Andrew, which is the mecca for many sporting events, and is now into the circle of stories concerning Grenada and its 50 years after Independence.

How Progress Park came about remains vivid in the mind of Errol Walker who was with a group of individuals “back in the day” playing cricket in the road, taking a break from his job where he was located at the Paradise Junction.

Walker says it’s a story that cannot be forgotten.
