On Sunday, Grenada joined in on the global observance of the Month of the Elderly, and the ministry of social development has organized a range of activities to acknowledge and celebrate the invaluable contributions of older individuals towards the advancement of our society.
Additionally, it’s a day when individuals rededicate their commitment to ensure that older person’s human rights and dignity are maintained in every aspect of their daily lives.
Minister with responsibility for Social Development Sen. Gloria Thomas in her message to mark International Day of Older Persons, emphasized that the Universal Declaration on Human Rights which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, which speaks to the fundamental human rights of all persons, including older persons, must be universally protected.
Speaking to the objectives of the occasion, Sen. Thomas calls on all to collaborate, to develop and improve the lives of older persons and respect their human rights.
Highlighting planned activities for the celebration, Sen. Thomas says government remains committed to and will continue to improve the delivery of services offered to older persons.
