Spicemas Corporation (SMC) has released the names of calypsonians making it to the semi-final of the 2023 annual carnival calypso competition.
Nine of the 20 calypsonians on the list are from Kaiso Bards, 6 from Fireworks, 3 from Kingdom, 1 from North West Brigade and 1 from Carriacou.
The 20 semi-finalists have come from the preliminary judging of the tents, which ended last evening, with performances from calypsonians of Fireworks tent.
Looking at the semi-final list, we have Pappa Jerry, Lady B, Shanda, Top Cat, Rootsman Kelly, Monique, Teacher Eddie, Whistler, Muscles, Randy Isaac, I am G, Big J, D Young Legend, Pecos, Mr. Razor, Messenger, Valene, Sour Serpent, Prince and Super Star.
The Melody Papitette Calypso semi-final will be at Progress Park this Sunday, beginning 5 in the afternoon.
Prior to the Calypso semi-final will be the Soca monarch semis Saturday night 28th July and the Groovy Monarch semi-final on Friday night, all at the same venue.
