World Diabetes Day provides an opportunity to raise awareness of diabetes as a global public health issue and what needs to be done, collectively and individually, for better prevention, diagnosis and management of the condition.

November 14 is designated World Diabetes Day.

It’s against this backdrop the Lions Club of St. John will this Sunday host an activity in its continued efforts to raise awareness on the health issue.

On this year’s observance, St. John Lions Club will highlight not only the challenges, but more significantly to empower individuals on the global epidemic.

Chair person of the health committee of the club, Alma Calliste speaks of the event.

The objective, Calliste says, is to scale up access to diabetes medicines and care for persons living with the illness.
