ST. LUCIA UWP OPPOSITION TAKES ISSUE WITH STATEMENT BY GRENADIAN LEADER DICKON MITCHELL AT THE SLP CONVENTION

There’s been much talk in political circles in Grenada and in St. Lucia, following Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell’s feature address at the Convention of the ruling St. Lucia Labor Party (SLP) last Sunday.

Among other things, advising the SLP supporters to remain steadfast in their thrust at the development of St. Lucia, Prime Minister Mitchell has been vilified by the Opposition United Workers Party (UWP) for statements they see as divisive and racist.

The statement made by Grenadian Leader, Dickon Mitchell, enshrined in his speech last Sunday at the Convention of the St. Lucia Labor Party.

The Opposition United Workers Party (UWP) finds it offensive, as an attack on their leader, Allen Chastenet, who it is said is a St. Lucian national, born in Martinique.

The UWP PRO, Lennard Montoute went on to say that Prime Minister Mitchell’s comment is likely to provoke insularity in the St. Lucia society and calls on him to apologize.
