The Caribbean Community stands ready to assist Haiti, which, last Saturday, suffered a devastating shock from a 7.2 magnitude earthquake.
Considering the COVID pandemic, poverty and political disturbances following the assassination of President Moise, the crises are said to have reached boiling point, with rescue operations being conducted so as to find quake survivors.
CARICOM Chairman, Antigua/Barbuda’s Prime Minister, Gaston Browne, has since held discussions with the Prime Minister of Haiti, Ariel Henry.
Browne tells Henry CARICOM stands ready to assist.
Browne noted that CARICOM is deeply saddened at reports of loss of life and significant damage in Haiti, following last Saturday’s major earthquake.
Prime Minister Browne extended sympathy to Prime Minister Henry and to the people of Haiti, expressing wishes for a full and speedy recovery of the injured.
