Meantime, the ministry of Health has noted its dissatisfaction and concern over what it says is the blatant disregard for COVID-19 protocols, exhibited during a street protest earlier this week.

The release indicated that Ministry officials observed with horror, what’s been seen as the flouting of all public health protocols by some public service employees, during Tuesday’s protest.

The release stated that while protesters paraded through the streets and at the Ministerial Complex in Tanteen, chanting as they progressed along their route, they failed to maintain the recommended physical distance, and many were not wearing a mask or other face-covering as mandated by law.

These factors the Ministry of Health says are key principles that have been articulated worldwide for preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Reiterating the need to keep the nation safe, the ministry notes that the way in which Tuesday’s activity was carried out, was quite alarming, given the global context.

It reminds individuals of the horrors being experienced by regional neighbors in this pandemic quite visible in daily news reports.

The Ministry of Health sees it as unfair that a handful of Grenadians will seek to squander the hard-fought gains that have been made, as a people united towards the common objective of fighting COVID-19.

It’s reminding citizens that mass gatherings occurring in such manner can create severe public health consequences for the entire country.
