Some people may have been perplexed last night in witnessing the sky at one moment `being lit brightly than usual for a split second, not knowing exactly what it was.
It was about after seven o’clock.
Once you were outdoors the light was vivid to the eye, and even if you were indoors you would have gotten a glimpse, for the illumination was like putting on and taking off a light switch in an instant.
Sky-watchers say it was a meteor which gave off that glare upon disintegrating, looking somewhat like a lightening flash, but with no prolonged beam.
The flash that appeared in that sudden fashion provoked discussion in several quarters, especially surrounding Christian beliefs, with fear stepping in for a moment, as signs of the end of the World.
The scientists have another explanation concerning the nature of meteor showers with their colours depending on their chemical composition and the glare last night of a greenish nature associated with magnesium.
There have been many meteor shower sightings globally in recent times.…
Ten days ago there was a meteor shower sighting in Turkey.
It’s a spectacle in a sense, that often, in our parts, it’s strange.
A meteor shower’s brightness depends on its speed and its size…the bigger and faster it is, the brighter the shower will be, which is why the larger meteor showers are absolutely spectacular to view.
The meteors and the meteor showers are usually given names by the scientific conglomerates from Japan and the Middle East for example like Mirishuma and Taurid, way beyond the realm of our imagination.
But, whatever it was last night, meteor shower or not, it did arouse attention creating doubt in people’s minds as to what it really was…that’s why we were forced to take our microphones to the streets to hear people’s views.
