Reports reached us today that some students at TAMCC joined the protest line for another day running, in solidarity with the plight of the institution’s lecturers over outstanding increments.

This is becoming a regular occurrence by faculty members expressing disgust over the issue.

We understand that for 1 hour again today, primarily this morning, several TAMCC lecturers abandoned the classroom, their reaction for monies owed to them.

Yesterday and today, we are told, several students joined the lecturers in the ranks of the protest, showing off placards, pointing out the need for the payment process to be speeded up.

Late last month, TAMCC sent out a release speaking of efforts it made in affording the lecturers’ monies over the period 2013 to 2018 and subsequently payments of 25% of outstanding increments for 2016.

TAMCC noted its willingness to fulfill the payment of the balance of the outstanding increments for the period 2019- 2021 by the end of this year.

It’s not clear whether there’s any agreement between the parties on this score, but meantime, the one-hour teachers stand-off each day continues.

TAMCC says it remains committed to open dialogue to address salary and other issues.
