SUICIDE PREVENTION STRATEGIC PLAN TRAINING COMMENCES

Over 30 health care workers are expected to be exposed to a new training module, which will seek to look at suicide prevention.

This as the Ministry of Health Wellness, and Religious Affairs, is in the process of developing a National Suicide Prevention Strategic Plan.

The initiative is part of the 2023 national focus on mental health and wellness.

Having declared 2023 as the year for Mental Health and Wellness, the Ministry of Health, with the support from the Pan American Health Organization PAHO, today kick-started it’s training for health workers on the suicide module of Mental Health Gap Action Program (mhGAP).

It’s the first in a series of training sessions with healthcare personnel from the Community Health and Hospital Services.

PAHO’s consultant Dr. Claudina Cayetano is currently in Grenada facilitating the training exercise.
