The Ministry of Education is informing the public that due to the ongoing situation following the fire at the St. Andrew’s Anglican Primary School October 13, classes were further suspended today and tomorrow.
The Ministry says it’s working assiduously to facilitate a return to teaching and learning during the week of October 30.
It promises to further notify the public of specific arrangements for continuity.
Its response thus far is on the basis of field visits to possible relocation sites; a church service and psycho-social support sessions for students and staff and engagements with staff and representatives from the Church Board and Parent Teachers Association.
The Ministry of education is extending profound gratitude and appreciation to all stakeholders, including staff, students, parents and members of the school community for their demonstrated patience, support, resilience and collaboration during this transition period.
Meantime, an invitation to bid for the construction of the new St. Andrew’s Anglican Primary School has been issued.
Construction of the school will be in the original location, Victoria Street, Grenville.
Meanwhile, Education Minister, David Andrew, says they’re looking at accommodating the students elsewhere for the time being.
He was speaking on this immediate aspect at a meeting of the Senate today, indicating that among other areas, their sights are fixed on the Resource Centre at Telescope, St. Andrew.
Andrew speaks of the option as being cost-effective.
The Education Minister also informed the Senate about an interim plan.
