Remembering the turmoil with the demise of the Grenada Revolution, Grenadians are to visit centres of worship tomorrow to once again say Thanks to the almighty; October 25, Thanksgiving Day.
The Grenada Government is staging its official Thanksgiving Service, in memory ofthe intervention of Regional and US forces arriving in Grenada October 25, 1983 to break up an insurrection, led by the Revolutionary Military Council (RMC).
This has been a regular feature since that eventful day in 1983…a time when National at home and abroad were caught in amazement of what was happening to their dearly beloved country, opening up the eyes of the rest of the world.
Generally, people prayed for god’s hand to restore Grenada for it being controlled by military powers was a means of Grenadians surrendering to submission against their will.
The Ecumenical Service tomorrow to recognize the October 25, 1983 occasion will be held at the Tivoli RC church 10 o’clock in the morning.
October 25, 1983 is seen as the country’s return to democratic rule, after which it was held under siege.
Meantime, the Maurice Bishop and October 19th 1983 Martyrs Foundation will stage a Memorial Service tomorrow at the Centre Cemetery, St. George’s.
This is in memory of the eventful day and those who died.
The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Grenada is also inviting citizens to a ceremony to pay tribute to those Cubans workers who died on October 25, 1983, at the time of the intervention.
The ceremony will take place ten in the morning at the Monument in Honour of Cuban Internationalists in the vicinity of the MBIA.
