The Conference Of Churches in Grenada (CCG) has dispatched a release relative to the situation in the Catholic community, disagreements in recent times, between Fr. Gerard Paul and Bishop Clyde Harvey, the man spearheading the Catholic Diocese of St. George’s.

It stemmed from Fr. Paul’s outspoken attitude on currant and burning World view problems like that of the Gaza-Israeli-Hamas-Palestine conflict, and accusation that the church here has been observed being too silent on the issue.

Fr. Paul has been called out for his attack on the Church, and while both parties thereafter appeared being involved in rectifying the problem, things still remain strained.

REPORT:

The Conference of Churches writes that it has been   closely monitoring events unfolding in the Roman Catholic Church in Grenada and as sister churches, they’re cognizant of the negative impact the rising tensions hold for the Catholic Community, as well as the wider church community in Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique.

From its perspective, the Conference of Churches says, it’s a matter of church discipline and expresses confidence that the Catholic Institution with its strong tradition upholding proper church discipline, is well equipped and more than able to effectively resolve such issues when they arise.

It stands in solidarity with Bishop Clyde Martin Harvey and the rest of the Catholic Diocese of St. George’s as they seek a resolution.

The Conference of Churches tells the catholic community to remain resolute in maintaining proper Christian conduct and gives the assurances of its  continued prayers and good wishes, in confronting the current challenging realities.
