January is known as Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, a time when the World Health Organization (WHO) and their partners raise awareness about cervical cancer and HPV vaccination.

Cervical Cancer is a cancer that starts in the cells of the cervix, also known as the lower, narrow end of the uterus or (womb).

Here in Grenada, the Grenada Planned Parenthood Association (GPPA) has put together a number of events and activities to encourage women to know their status, as it relates to cervical cancer.

That was Executive Director at the Grenada Planned Parenthood Association (GPPA) Shaqkhi Cornwall.

Cornwall says the association will begin having clinics in every parish across the island, including Carriacou, where women can visit and get checked out.
