Looking towards the coming year, the Grenada Red Cross Society (GRCS) aims to continue working towards its mission as it recently celebrated its 2020 achievements.

REPORT:

Despite the challenges this year, through the work of its expansive volunteer team, the Grenada Red Cross Society executed over ten projects, across the island.

While the restraints of the pandemic affected its regular operations, the team is reported to have successfully completed its Strategic Plan 2030, an intricate aspect of its internal processes.

The plan is to guide the society’s involvement in key areas such as climate resilience, disaster management, volunteer management and resource mobilization.

It also expanded its disaster management capacity fully retrofitting a space for its Emergency Operations Centre and identifying a space for a permanent EOC.

The society also reports expanding its emergency response capabilities, playing a major role in providing support throughout the pandemic.

Director-General, Kathy-Ann Morain, is saying that volunteers are the heart of the organization and is relying on their goodwill and hard work to accomplish the projects.

Morain states that as the world continues to battle with the effects of the pandemic, volunteers are a significant contributor to the frontline activities, geared toward containment of the virus.

The Red Cross Society is encouraging the public to follow its work on social media and other platforms and to consider volunteering to make a difference. Petra Louison, Wee FM News.
