The high cost of electricity was addressed this afternoon by the Minister for Energy, Gregory Bowen and the manager at GRENLEC Clive Hosten.
Over the past few weeks the talk around the town has been on higher electricity bills, from the island’s lone electricity company GRENLEC.
Electricity prices on the world market have in recent weeks risen to their highest levels in decades.
Acting General Manager at Grenlec, Clive Hosten, who was on the panel at this week’s Post-Cabinet Briefing, says the health crisis has significantly impacted the electricity sector, and went on to explain the different components relating to electricity and its prices.
Hosten says the fuel charge over the past 3 years has not been consistent hence a fluctuation is expected.
Hosten indicated that energy conservation is the only way in which Grenada can stem the tide.
