The Christian Community today recognized with denominations around the World the beginning of the Lenten Season.

It brings with it fasting, moderation, and self-denial traditionally observed over a period of 40 days.

It’s a time when the church gives persons an opportunity to assess themselves spiritually reminding them of the importance of the season which, biblically, falls within the history of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

At the Catholic Cathedral today, where there was mass and the receipt of the traditional ashes, Bishop Clyde Martin Harvey urged pilgrims to utilize the Lenten period to do some soul-searching.

Bishop Harvey says it’s springtime to become the goodness of God.
