The man behind the recent CADRES Survey of 6 countries in the Caribbean, including Grenada, concerning the question of vaccine hesitancy and COVID says populations of the region and the World have no choice but to be vaccinated for greater protection.
Peter Wickham of Barbados made the comment on the basis that life has to go on and the fact that the coronavirus doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon.
Wickham recently published the findings on his recent research on behalf of USAID/UNICEF on COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy Survey Report 2021.
Wickham was looking at the many reasons why regional populations have been hesitant to take the jab, the vaccine which he sees as a guarantee for personal health safeguards from the raging virus.
He was speaking on this week’s Perspectives Programme this morning with host , Brenda Baptiste, who deals with pertinent development issues.
The general view in many circles is that the messaging is not appropriately fitting why populations are not getting a grasp of the situation to be vaccinated, and oftentimes unvaxxed politics get into the play.
While governments lay the basis for public understanding, Wickham needs to see more involvement from opposition political voices in the region.
